The following applies to the labelling of freshly prepared foods or perishable goods such as meat and fish: The labelling must be informative and understandable - for users, customers and consumers. The principles of legibility (minimum font size 1.2 mm), comprehensibility and standardisation apply. Freshly prepared food must be labelled with a best-before date. The abbreviation "MHD" may no longer be used. The correct labelling therefore reads "best before day/month/year." Minced meat, sliced meat, raw sausages, poultry or raw fish, on the other hand, must be labelled with an expiry date. The correct date here is "best before day/month". It is also essential to include information on correct storage and the required temperature.
